More About Names

Yesterday I mentioned children's names and characteristics that might be associated with them.  Today I would like to feature three names that I have made for special people in my life.

Jude is the first grandchild of very special friends of mine.  I thought the Teddy Bear in a blue sweater would be a cute addition.

Chris is my wife's son.  He has long had a passion for skateboarding and pastored a Skatechurch in the Bay Area for 6 years.  Now he has moved to Portland, and you will find him at www.pdxpicker.com/.  As you can see, I make my names with a band saw.  I can use any font people desire, but these are done in my own handwriting.  The logos are also my hand-drawn creations.

The last of the three names is my wife's.  We met in a church service last August after I came from Kansas to visit my sister in California.  I invited her to Starbuck's the next week and presented her with her name as a gift.  Since she was a teacher, I added the apple and ruler.  She must have liked her present - she married me on November 28th!

What's in a Name?

A name can evoke beauty, strength, or courage.  We often name our children with such qualities in mind.  Or a name can be a description that takes the reader to a special place.  When I craft names, my job is to use words and art together to create the vision and feeling my customer desires.  Such is the case below.  Can you feel yourself being drawn into a special tree-surrounded hideaway?
